Whilst trawling through the internet looking for interesting scooter related stuff it seems its only us Brits who ride their scooters to the pub. Nice little clip though, well done STARBUCKS.

Whitley Bay

Found this on youtube, like it says its from 1989. My first national rally was whitley bay 1991 but the some of the images from this clip are just like my memories. Such as the police road block, I think it was Stigger who produced his CBT to the police, to which they replied" whats one of these?" There`s some good riding shots on here though, just think how old some of people are on this clip, early 20`s probably or maybe teens. Don`t get down hearted though, we`re all still so young!!!

Old Holborn

Scooters tend to get passed around between club members or local riders & this one is no exception. I first spotted it in the window of Len`s Scooters Shipley around 1991 when i had my first vespa & Len`s was one of only a few local dealers. Fast foward to the end of the 90`s when the other Len (Dahma Bums s.c. , not Lens scooters ) bought it from a guy in brighouse. Len kept it & messed around with it for a few years until selling it to me as a non runner in about 2002. Club member Blaggy got involved & with his help we got back on the road. I ran it for a few years until passing it on to another club member, Pants. Currently still owned by Pants although i think it could be making an appearance on ebay in the near future.

Big Wednesday

Managed to make it down to the club meeting last night. There was a good turn out & it was good to be out again on a warm evening. We had a cool little ride into Holmfirth & went to Hervey`s wine bar which is an excellent spot to park up & have a little drink. Very sophisticated!

Little tykes

Originally some years ago I wanted to do a fanzine based loosely around H.S.C. & scooter related stuff. That was when I had more time on my hands but chose to spend it in a less constructive way....although it was fun....So thats how the blog has come about, kind of an on-line fanzine. The problem is finding stuff to post everyday without talking about trivial stuff unless you want to hear about work etc, which you don`t! So in the meantime I`ll try to put up anything I think you`ll find mildly interesting like things I`ve found in the garage....so here goes..
Here`s something i`ve found in my garage

An original Tykes S.C. backrest plaque from sometime in the 70`s. It was given to me by Steve Binns, an old workmate, who painted it himself when he was the number one. By coincidence my next place of work had an old Tykes member too...and they both switched from scooters to motorcycles.....and they both knew each other............and!......................................zzzzzzzzzzzzz

Where does this bit go?

Time to read Sticky`s book very carefully & replace the drive side oil seal. while the engine is stripped may aswell do all seals & bearings too.

So in the the meantime i`ve got this to ride. Nice to be back on a vespa!

More Lincoln snaps

I loved this band so much when i was 17, nuff said.

Why?

The only downer at Lincoln was this. The owner has no idea who has done this or why, just pointless & upsetting. Try to imagine being so pissed, angry or stupid enough to do something like this?............no i can`t either!

Lincoln 2012

Had a blast this weekend at the Lincoln rally despite friday`s drenching on the way down & blowing an oil seal on the scooter. H.S.C. had a great turn out of members & were well fed as Steve slaved over the bbq most of the weekend. The whole atmosphere was excellent throughout & the venue was spot on.

Sunday`s ride home was excellent with sun, twisty roads & loads of blue smoke coming from my exhaust, made it home though! Thanks to the organisers & to H.S.C. for a great weekend!
Will post up some more photos later, now for some more sleep!!

Its On!!

I was seriously doubting that this weekend would happen (it has`nt yet) as every other major event has been cancelled due to bad weather. For the first time in its history the Yorkshire Show was abandoned on tuesday & the Kylie & Jason reunion in London has also been hit( not hard enough!). LCGB though seem to have been in constant communication with Lincoln showground to ensure it all goes ahead, hurray for them!!

its not ska*

Obviously, being a scooterist i eat sleep breathe ska(sarcasm) but on my days off  I`m a metalhead hardcore punk soulie hippie indie redneck tosspot & I can`t resist posting up a few musical gems, so in the first installment of what i`m now going to call "Its Not Ska"* are Focus. If you ever went to the the "Frog & Toad" club in Bradford or you are a hippie or Dutch, you will know this tune although you may not have seen this astounding performance.
*may contain ska.

Had a ride out to Castle Hill this morning while the rain was having a breather, thought i`d give the give the scooter a chance to break down before Lincoln( which, so far, is still going ahead despite the tropical climate). Also wanted to take some photo`s even though i`m useless at it.

Castle Hill is an awesome spot, its got fantastic views of Huddersfield & is perfect for a bit of time out.

Did`nt break down by the way.

"8 Hours To Anywhere"

When Scotty & Bricey left Huddersfield S.C. at the start of the 90`s they started a new club "Dahma Bums S.C." and recruited some of the towns most upstanding scooterists.The next step was to design a patch & get them printed but at some point communication broke down between the club and the printer, so a rough sketch and wrong spelling became the club colours. After an epic 8 hour ride to Whitley Bay & a freezing 8 hours through the night to Llandudno, a club motto was born & general disreguard of any kind of planning.

The club carried on in trade mark chaos for a few more years until finally splitting in about 95

How to make a comeback

Went to see The Stone Roses at Heaton Park on sunday, was`nt all note perfect as you`d expect but there were some awsome moments during their set, felt like a whole generation had reunited never mind one band. Here`s a clip from friday nights gig

I reckon as far as comebacks go its one of the best, not too soon & not too late, thats how you do it see!
