Mags

I`ve got magazines in every room in the house but the bulk of them are stashed in this old case, I`ve bought every copy of scootering magazine from april 1991 up to about 3 years ago, since then i`ve bought pretty much most of them.These, as well as vw magazines & Back street heroes, are taking over the house & garage so its time to stop, so far i`ve done about 3 weeks without buying a magazine. Finding it tough but gonna hang in there!!

In a rut

Trying to sum up this blog at the moment( could of put up "in a rut" but this song is better).
After the last excuse for a post I realised i`m running out of steam, especially at this time of year, but also the fact that i could post up other stuff that is`nt scooter stuff but is left out cos of that reason. So......what i`m thinking is broadening the scope of my blog & including my other stuff which is motorbikes, VW`s, loads more music & i`ve also been known to (just about) ride a skateboard now & then. This year, as well as scooter events, i`ve been to a couple of  bike & car shows & three drag racing events & I want  to tell you about `em so if you`ll allow me to indulge a bit more & see how it goes. btw.... started putting  the gp engine back together!!

In light of Sticky`s recent"getting it right" piece in this months Scootering, beauty is in the eye of.................etc, etc.

Favourite rally location?

I was lurking about in Scotland while on google maps the other day looking for places to visit for no reason, when I decided to head for Oban. So I had a look around the streets in the town, recognised a few of the pubs we`d been in when it was a national rally destination, some of them closed down and boarded up sadly. Then I decided to head for the old campsite along Corran Esplanade & onto Ganavan road which leads you to Ganavan Sands, where the old rally site was. It was a great location, right on the shore. This was pavilion which held the do`s

Its now been knocked down & the area is been revamped with new holiday flats, it would`ve been to go back though!..................................virtual tour over.

Sundays

Met up with a few of H.S.C. for a ride out to Hollimgworth Lake in Rochdale yesterday. Windy roads, tea, scones & no rain, lovely.

Strictly!

Strictly scooters was a laid back, stripped back day & night somewhere in Sherwood forest. Just a marquee, some d.j`s, one burger van & a bit of a party! Lucked out with the weather too which was perfect as we sat watching  scooters arriving with racks stacked with booze whilst being entertained by some live acoustic tunes in the afternoon.

 the weekend got the thumbs up from Michelle by the way!

So no cars then?

Going to this on saturday with the lovely Michelle. Its gonna her first rally which ideally should`ve been at a seaside in a nice comfy b&b, but its in a field, in a tent so verdict & photo`s to follow.

Saturday Night

Its saturday night & time for...............................X Factor!!. Personally i love it, its bloody hilarious!
If its too much for you though.....

This caught my eye at the Lincoln rally. The owner , who was questioned for "your shout" in Scootering magazine, had ridden over from Italy for World Vespa Days and decided to stay in the U.K. longer to attend some more events. At least he was`nt put off by the vespa event. The scooter is px125 with 177 pinasco kit.

Fast women

In & amongst all the scootering mags, fliers, posters etc is this rather nice calender. Donne Veloci S.C. are  from New York and they are an all girl scooter club, I not sure if they`re still up & running as I`ve tried doing a bit of research on them(googled it) & nothing really showed up, but what is interesting is one the members is a lady named Bev whose hometown is Bradford. A few years ago some of the girls came to the U.K. & turned up at a few rallies & do`s, one of them being H.S.C.`s christmas do where thet donated this calender to the raffle. The calender was originally done to raise money for breast cancer so hopefully it raised loads.

First Lambretta

This was the first lambretta i bought, an li 150 1964. I was looking for a lammy at the time & spotted this outside Robbies Motorcycles in Bradford. It was in original condition & had been stood since 77 til they put it back on the road, so I gave them £550 for it. I remember riding in down to a Dahma Bums s.c. meeting for the first time & Chris Wood, who was in H.S.C. at time, saying "now you`ve got a proper scooter you can join a proper club!" There were some nice little original extras on like the footboards & the odd aftermarket exhaust. Eventually it got taken apart but after sitting in the kitchen in bits for a couple of years it had to go!

Hull & District

Me & Len went 2 up on the P2 to the Hull & District S.C. annual rally. The ride down the M62 was boring but at least the weather was good. Don`t want to start a rant so i won`t but there was probably more cars than scooters, i suppose thats just the way things are. Met some nice folk there & went on a lager frenzy with added jagerbombs. Can`t remember the bands much but one of them were ska so I know what songs they played. Len lost his shirt & tried to sleep in someone elses tent. Classic!, just don`t know how i managed to ride home

Two worlds

These two pictures sum up the Mods & rockers do last sunday. Big D`s chop is quite stunning but the stickered px was actually my favourite of the day, it really is the simple things in life for people like me.

T5 Appreciation Society

Mine & Len`s t5`s. The top 2 pics of Len`s were at Oban when the tickover screw undid it self & the spring went down the barrel leading to a nice ride home in the Chiselspeed van. The splendid looking pink & blue one was mine which at the time I loved for some reason.

Mods & Rockers

Sunday was the Mods & Rockers event put on by Satan Slaves M.C. & Bradford Discharge S.C. It kicks off with a ride in from the George pub in Low Moor Bradford to the Piece Hall in Halifax. Once at the Piece Hall there`s stalls, a bar, D.J`s, loads of scooters & bikes, plus all the regualar shops inside the hall. Riding in alongside the Slaves was a fun experience & the atmosphere throughout the afternoon was great, it has to said! Unfortunatley this was to be the last year at Piece Hall, next year will be held at the Frontier at Batley.
